US BTS reports passenger numbers rose 1.7% to 803.5 million in 2011

US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) reports (03-Apr-2012) the following scheduled traffic highlights in 2011:

  • Passenger numbers: 803.5 million, +1.7% year-on-year;
    • US carriers: 730 million, +1.3%;
      • Domestic: 637.5 million, +1.3%;
      • International: 92.5 million, +1.7%;
    • Foreign carriers (to/from US): 73.5 million, +5.6%;
  • Passenger traffic (RPMs): +3.2%;
  • Capacity (ASMs): +3.6%;
