    About

    The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) is a division of the US Department of Transport responsible for compiling, analysing, and publishing information on the American transportation system with the aim of improving its quality and encouraging its use. The BTS is a part of the Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA), which leads to DOT in:

    • Coordinating, facilitating and reviewing the Department’s research and development programs and activities;
    • Advancing innovative technologies, including intelligent transportation systems;
    • Performing comprehensive transportation statistics research, analysis and reporting; and
    • Providing education and training in transportation and transportation-related fields.
