US Airways CEO sees 'one big deal left' for mergers

US Airways CEO Doug Parker announced he sees "one big deal left" as a merger prospect in the US and that it would involve his carrier (AP/Bloomberg/charlotteobserver.com/Reuters/businesstravelnews.com, 06-Apr-2011). Mr Parker stated that if one of the big three carriers - United, Delta or American - wanted to make a deal, US Airways is the last one left. Mr Parker wants his company to be well positioned should the merger opportunity arise, however believes US Airways could also continue as a stand-alone. Further statements from the CEO reveal the carrier is able to pass along the cost of fuel despite prices continuing to rise and that it plans to install first-class cabins on 110 US Airways Express aircraft by Jan-2012.
