UK immigration staff union members plan strike

UK's immigration staff union, ISU, announced its members plan to launch strike action for 48 hours from 23-Sep-2010 over a roster dispute (BBC News, 16-Sep-2010). The union represents 84% of immigration staff in the UK. London Gatwick Airport stated the strike is likely to have a significant impact on the airport's operations, while London Heathrow Airport was optimistic that it would be able to handle the walk out. UK Border Agency stated it plans to make efforts to minimise disruptions.
