UK Government launches public consultation for aviation strategy to 2050

UK's Department for Transport launched (21-Jul-2017) public consultation for its planned aviation strategy to 2050. The consultation will focus on six themes:

  • Customer service:
    • Ensuring the industry is accessible for all and caters for an ageing population and passengers with restricted mobility;
    • Consumer protection arrangements;
    • Disruptive passengers policies;
  • Safety and security;
  • Global connectivity;
  • Competitive markets:
    • Examining existing regulation, encouraging connectivity across United Kingdom">UK nations and regions and stimulating competition;
  • Supporting growth while tackling environmental impacts;
  • Innovation, technology and skills.

Transport Secretary Chris Grayling said: "Aviation is central to our future prosperity as we leave the European Union. As a global, trading nation we want to build on the great industry we have today and create opportunities for people up and down the country". [more - original PR]
