TransAsia Airways reports second consecutive quarterly profit growth in 2Q2014

TransAsia Airways reported (14-Aug-2014) the carrier's second consecutive quarter of profit growth in 2Q2014. The carrier also recorded its highest earnings per share among Taiwan's three largest carriers including China Airlines and EVA Air. The carrier attributed the improvement in profitability to its cost control while fuel prices stayed level with the same period last year, as well as the expansion of 10 international routes last year. It said, "the average passenger load factor for [TransAsia's] international routes showed a 10% rise [in the first half of this year] from the same period last year, to be the main driver for the company's business."   • Net operating revenue: TWD6520 million (USD215.8 million);
  • Operating profit: TWD313.2 million (USD10.4 million);
  • Net profit: TWD158.3 million (USD5.2 million);
