Tiger Airways: No progress in regulatory approval of Thai Tiger project

Tiger Airways stated (19-Sep-2011) it has been informed by Thai Airways' management that there has been no progress in the regulatory approval of the Thai Tiger project and there is therefore no change in the status of the Thai Tiger project. Thai's management has also clarified there was no discussion on Thai Tiger at Thai's Board meeting on 16-Sep-2011. [more - original PR]

It was previously reported that Thai Airways would not extend the deadline (that was due to expire in Oct-2011) for establishing a JV budget airline with Tiger Airways Holdings. Thai chairman Ampon Kittiampon reportedly stated Thai's planned new regional airline, Thai Smile, would help replace the proposed venture with Tiger. [more - analysis]
