Tiger Airways Australia launches fare sale on Sydney-Melbourne sector

Tiger Airways Australia launched (20-Aug-09) a fare sale on the Sydney-Melbourne sector, offering 30,000 seats for AUD25 for mid-week travel between 04-Oct-2009 and 27-Mar-2010, for bookings made prior to 26-Aug-2009. The sale follows Jetstar's 'free seat' sale on Twitter in conjunction with the carrier's plan to launch five times daily Sydney-Melbourne Tullamarine service.

Qantas Group: "Jetstar was seeing that, so to be competitive at the leisure end we believed Jetstar needed to have direct Melbourne Tullamarine to Sydney services complementing its Avalon operations, assuring that profitable market stays with the group and it's not lost to our low-cost competitors," Alan Joyce, CEO.
