TAP to launch Lisbon-Algiers service in Jun-2010, as part of African expansion

TAP Portugal announced (08-Mar-2010) plans to launch Lisbon-Algiers service in Jun-2010 - see Route Changes Table for more information. TAP also recently announced plans to launch three times weekly Lisbon-Marrakesh service in the same month. The launch of these routes highlights TAP's reinforcement of its growth strategy for Africa, which is the only segment in the network where the airline has continually expanded since 2001, going from 236,000 passengers to 541,000 passengers, an increase of more than 129%. With a 6.4% rise in 2009, Africa was the only segment in the TAP network that grew in 2009. With the opening of the new routes in Jun-2010, the TAP network will include eleven cities in nine African countries, with 58 weekly services between Portugal and the Africa. [more]
