Syria talks of 50 new Airbus aircraft for Syrian Arab Airlines

Syria and Airbus announced discussions to expand Syrian Arab Airlines fleet by 50 aircraft (Bloomberg, 12-Nov-2009). Syria is reportedly considering plans to purchase A320s, A330s, A340s and A350s. The first 14 aircraft may be delivered between 2010 and 2018 and the remaining 36 aircraft by 2028. The carrier may also lease four aircraft. Airbus President for the Middle East, Habib Fekih, stated "negotiations are ongoing". The US has an embargo on aircraft sales to Syria.
