Star Alliance to announce two LCC connecting partner members in 2016

Star Alliance CEO Mark Schwab, speaking at the ACI 26th General Assembly in Athens, said (21-Jun-2016) Star plans to announce two more members of its connecting partner platform. The first, South Africa's Mango, was announced in Dec-2015 and Mr Schwab re-iterated comments that partnership will go live in a few months. Mr Schwab said Star is in discussion with approximately a dozen airlines about joining the connecting partner platform and they vary in size from operating a half dozen to over 100 hundred. They tend to be "towards the hybrid end of the equation" in their business/service approach and show interest in matters like facilitating bag transfers, which are needed under the connecting partner platform.
