About

Mango is a South African low cost airline and subsidiary of South African Airways. The carrier commenced operations in 2006. Mango operates scheduled passenger services across a domestic route network. The carrier is a planned member under the Star Alliance Connecting Partner Model.

South Africa's Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) welcomed the judgement of the South African High Court on 10-Aug-2021 to place Mango under business rescue, effective 28-Jul-2021.

Mango published its business rescue plan on 29-Oct-2021. Mango will not form part of the South African Airways Group in future and no further government financial support will be directed to Mango.

On 15-Nov-2021, Mango announced it will defer its resumption of operations until "the process of securing an investor has been concluded, with a preferred bidder having been identified".

In Jan-2022, Mango confirmed the process to identify an investor for the airline and restart operations is ongoing. The carrier remains in business rescue and not operating until further notice.

South Africa's Air Services Licensing Council suspended Mango's two air services licences for the maximum allowable period of two years, effective 05-Aug-2022.
