Star Alliance COO outlines plans for London Heathrow Airport terminal two

Star Alliance COO and general counsel Jeffrey Goh, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, stated (09-Aug-2013) 23 Star Alliance airlines operating at UK's London Heathrow Airport plan to move to the new terminal two progressively from Jun-2014 to Nov-2014. Mr Goh said the terminal will be divided into four zones with different airlines in each to optimise passenger flow. Carriers are currently evaluating proposals to operate with one ground handling company per zone. The terminal will feature a common economy class check-in with Star Alliance branding and 'toggling' functionality to allow service agents to switch between airline passenger handling systems. The terminal aims to process 70% of economy passengers with self-service check in and fast bag drop facilities. Mr Goh also said UK Civil Aviation Authority's rejection of a proposed 25% increase in charges at London Heathrow resulted in the airport proposing to scale back investment 2014 to 2019, which will affect terminal two projects.
