Squaremouth: US travellers change behaviour towards cancellation, emergency medical coverage

Squaremouth reported (08-Jul-2020) the following changes in behaviour for US residents purchasing cancellation coverage:

  • Travellers purchase policies five months ahead of departure, 48% farther out than in 2019;
  • Travellers are booking shorter trips which average 13 days;
  • Travellers spend 24% more on international travel and 18% more on domestic travel.

In comparison, travellers purchasing emergency medical coverage are taking trips more than a month long on average and travelling 62% longer than in 2019. Travellers are also purchasing policies earlier, up to 55 days prior to departure, compared to 26 days in 2019. [more - original PR]
