South Korea air cargo down 1% in 1H2013, int'l cargo up 1%

South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs reports (22-Jul-2013) the following cargo traffic highlights for the six months ended Jun-2013:

  • Cargo volume: 1.7 million tonnes, -0.6% year-on-year;
    • Domestic: 123,380 tonnes, -13.6%;
    • By South Korean carriers:
    • International: 1.6 million, +0.5%;
    • By region:
      • Japan: 203,368 tonnes, -6.4%;
      • China: 289,178 tonnes, +5.1%;
      • Americas: 320,737 tonnes, +0.2%;
      • Southeast Asia: 458,209 tonnes, +4.6%;
      • Europe: 252,529 tonnes, -5.9%;
      • Middle East: 30,222 tonnes, +14.9%;
      • Oceania: 25,005 tonnes, -4.9%;
    • By South Korean carriers: 1.1 million, -0.5%;
      • Korean Air: 686,967 tonnes, -6.8%;
      • Asiana Airlines: 405,063 tonnes, +9.9%;
      • Air Busan: 4334 tonnes, +41.9%;
      • Eastar Jet: 4295 tonnes, +88%;
      • Jeju Air: 10,651 tonnes, +58.8%;
      • Jin Air: 4564 tonnes, +15%;
      • T’way: 2150 tonnes, +32.8%;
      • Foreign carriers: 462,368 tonnes, +3.1%.
