Ryanair drops final Durham route

Ryanair announced plans to suspend its weekly summer Durham Tees Valley-Alicante service, reportedly due to increasing charges at the English airport (The Northern Echo, 11-Jan-2011). Durham Tees Valley has introduced a GBP6 passenger surcharge in attempt to raise funds to prevent its closure. The route is Ryanair's only service from Durham, after cancelling services to Dublin and Barcelona Girona.
