Girona-Costa Brava Airport is an international airport serving the city of Girona, in the Catalonia region in north-west Spain. Girona has experienced strong growth over the past decade, due almost entirely to Ryanair's decision to locate a major base at the airport, which is located just under 100km to the north of Barcelona and increasingly seen as an alternative airport to Barcelona El Prat. Ryanair, interestingly, now operates a significant base at El Prat Airport. Girona also handles seasonal traffic from a variety of leisure-oriented airlines in the summer months.
