Qatar Airways announces plans to serve South America: Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires

Qatar Airways announced (10-Mar-2010) plans to launch Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires services "within months", adding to the carrier's 2010 expansion plan:

  • New routes:
    • Bengaluru (Bangalore): Daily, launched on 22-Feb-2010;
    • Copenhagen: Four times weekly from 30-Mar-2010;
    • Ankara: Four times weekly from 05-Mar-2010;
    • Tokyo: Daily from 26-Apr-2010;
    • Barcelona:Daily from 07-Jun-2010;
    • Sao Paulo: Launch date to be confirmed;
    • Buenos Aires: Launch date to be confirmed;
  • Capacity increases from commencement of Northern Summer Schedule on 28-Mar-2010;
    • Geneva: Upgrade to A330;
    • Stockholm: Upgrade to A330 and increased from four times weekly to daily;
    • Colombo: Increase from twice to three times daily;
    • Kathmandu: Increase from twice to three times daily;
    • Goa: Increase from four times weekly to daily;
    • Amritsar: Increase from four times weekly to daily;
    • Chennai: Upgrade to A330s on selected flights;
    • Maldives: Increase from nine times weekly to 13 times weekly;
    • Seychelles: Upgrade to A330s on selected flights
    • Luxor: Increase from four times weekly to daily;
    • Guangzhou: Upgrade to B777;
    • Shanghai: Upgrade to B777 and increase from five times weekly to daily;
    • Seoul: De-linked from Osaka, becoming non-stop daily from Doha;
    • Cape Town: Upgrade to B777;
