Qantas to drop LAX-JFK route: reports

Qantas is reportedly considering dropping its US trans-continental route from Los Angeles to New York JFK as part of its network review and overhaul of international business (Sydney Morning Herald, 25-Jul-2011). Qantas operates daily LAX-JFK services using 304-seat A330-200 equipment. Traffic on the sector is only international connecting and stopover traffic. The A330-200 is used on Qantas' Auckland-Los Angeles route, which Jetstar is expected to replace Qantas on following the review. Other routes reportedly being looked at include Buenos Aires, Honolulu and Mumbai.
