Qantas Group passenger numbers up 5.7% in Jan-2010

Qantas passenger numbers up 5.7% - traffic highlights in Jan-2010:

  • Passenger numbers: 3.4 million, +5.7% year-on-year;
  • Load factor: 81.2%, -0.6 ppt;
    • Qantas Domestic: 78.4%, -2.6 ppts;
    • QantasLink: 62.2%, -2.3 ppts;
    • Jetstar Domestic: 81.8%, -3.0 ppts;
    • Qantas International: 84.5%, +1.1 ppts;
    • Jetstar International: 78.5%, +0.5 ppt;

Qantas: "Total Domestic (Qantas, QantasLink and Jetstar Domestic operations) yield excluding foreign exchange for the financial year to January 2010 was 6.1% lower when compared to the same period the prior year. Total International (Qantas and Jetstar International operations) yield excluding foreign exchange for the financial year to January decreased by 20.1% when compared to the same period the prior year. Qantas international yields showed continued improvement with monthly yields moving from -10.3% versus the previous year in December, to percent in January. Total International yield movements were adversely impacted by a change in the mix of flying Jetstar representing a higher proportion of international ASKs and by the inclusion of Jetstar Asia within the Group,” Source: Company statement, 10-Mar-2010.
