Pratt & Whitney reaffirm commitment to mid-sized aircraft engine market after JV abandonment

Pratt & Whitney announced (19-Sep-2013) it remains fully committed to the "important" future mid-size aircraft - 120-230 seat - engine market and it will continue independently to invest in and develop applications of its geared turbofan engine to power the next generation of aircraft in the segment. Pratt & Whitney is a unit of United Technologies Corp (UTC). Following further discussion and because of the current regulatory environment, the parties have agreed not to proceed with the partnership. [more - original PR]
