Norwegian Air International granted AOC by Irish Aviation Authority

Norwegian announced (12-Feb-2014) the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has granted an air operator's certificate (AOC) and operating license to the carrier's long-haul subsidiary Norwegian Air International, which is based in Dublin. The administration of Norwegian's long-haul operations will now be relocated to Dublin, with its aircraft operation to be governed by the Irish authorities. The carrier has also completed the transfer of its first Boeing 787 aircraft to the new AOC, with the remaining aircraft to be transferred gradually. The US Department of Transportation will now process the carrier's application for an operating permit for its long-haul routes to the US. Norwegian stated: "This is regulated by the Open Skies Agreement between the US and the EU, which means that an operator from either party, which fulfils the requirements, should be entitled to operate under this agreement. Today's announcement means that Norwegian meets all the requirements." [more - original PR]
