Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport increases screening following bomb threat

Nigeria's Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport increased its security on 15-Oct-2010 following a bomb threat by the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND) (All Africa, 16-Oct-2010). Increased security included screening vehicles with anti-bomb equipment that enter the airport grounds.

Meanwhile, Murtala Muhammed International Airport announced it has terminated a safety exercise that screened motorists and air travellers by security operatives along roads 2km away after only operating the new screening methods for two weeks (234next.com, 18-Oct-2010).
