Nigerian carriers expected to raise fares on increasing fuel prices

Nigerian carriers are expected to increase fares to absorb the third increase of Jet A1 fuel in six months (All Africa, 15-Feb-2011). From the beginning of 2011, oil marketers were selling a litre of aviation fuel for NGN107. Two weeks ago the price increased to NGN120 in Lagos and is now NGN129/l in Lagos, NGN133/l in Abuja and NGN138/l in Kano. The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) recently condemned the arbitrary price increase of fuel by marketers.
