Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation announces MoU with Mesa Airlines for 100 SpaceJet M100 aircraft

Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation announced (05-Sep-2019) a MoU with Mesa Airlines to commence negotiations for the purchase of 100 Mitsubishi SpaceJet M100 aircraft, with 50 aircraft as firm orders and an additional 50 as purchase rights. Mesa expects to utilise the aircraft in its capacity purchase agreements with major US airlines, and anticipates taking delivery of the M100s from 2024. Mesa Air Group chairman and CEO Jonathan Ornstein noted US mainline carriers are searching for an aircraft which will "will allow them to provide a consistent, premium passenger experience from their regional to their long haul fleets".
