Mexico welcomes commencement of US-Mexico aviation agreement

Mexico welcomed (21-Aug-2016) the new opportunities opened to the Mexican aviation industry with the bilateral US-Mexico aviation agreement. Mexico's Secretariat of Communications and Transportation stated the agreement which took effect on 21-Aug-2016 will open more routes and increase frequency of US-Mexico routes. The agreement is expected to assist the e-commerce and enhance Mexican industries' participation on the global supply chain. The agreement is not an open-skies agreement, therefore, it still restricts domestic mutual operations, however, it removes the limitation of two carriers per route, expected to increase competition.
