Lufthansa Group pax up 34.7%, load factor holding up in May-2010

Lufthansa Group passenger numbers up 34.7% - consolidated* traffic highlights in May-2010:

  • Passenger numbers: 8.2 million, +34.7% year-on-year;
  • Passenger load factor: 79.2%, +4.8 ppts;
    • Europe: 73.2%, +3.5 ppts;
    • Trans-Atlantic: 86.5%, +5.8 ppts;
    • Asia Pacific: 82.6%, +7.9 ppts;
    • Middle East & Africa: 70.5%, +4.7 ppts;
    • Lufthansa Passenger Airlines: 80.0%, +5.7 ppts;
    • SWISS: 80.9%, +5.7 ppts;
    • Austrian Airlines: 74.8%, +4.3 ppts;
    • bmi: 71.4%, n/a;
  • Cargo volume: 167,000 tonnes, +19.0%;
    • Europe: 51,000 tonnes, +9.0%;
    • Trans-Atlantic: 50,000 tonnes, +27.1%;
    • Asia Pacific: 48,000 tonnes, +25.6%;
    • Middle East & Africa: 16,000 tonnes, +2.6%;

Lufthansa: "Following the air-space closures in April, the dynamic sales recovery continued in May for both passenger and freight traffic. On a like-for-like basis (without Austrian Airlines and bmi) the companies in the Group welcomed 9.3% more passengers on board", Media Statement, 09-Jun-2010.
