Lufthansa Group pax numbers up 1% in May-2013, load factor stable at 78%

Lufthansa Group reports (11-Jun-2013) the following traffic highlights in May-2013:

• Passenger numbers: 9.4 million, +0.8% year-on-year;
  • Lufthansa Passenger Airlines*: 6.9 million, +0.9%;
  • SWISS**: 1.5 million, +3.6%;
  • Austrian Airlines: 999,000, -3.6%;
• Passenger load factor: 78.2%, +0.4 ppt;
  • Lufthansa Passenger Airlines: 77.5%, +0.2 ppt;
  • SWISS: 82.8%, +1.1 ppts;

Lufthansa Group: "As expected, the month of May was affected by changes in the dates of public holidays compared with last year. The number of flights declined. Passenger numbers, capacity, sales and load factor for the Passenger Airline Group all increased year on year. The yield in May was down on last year, in particular due to the public holidays, a deliberately higher proportion of Economy passengers and a continued weaker performance in Asia."
