Lufthansa Group pax numbers down 1% in Mar-2013, yield down

Lufthansa Group reports (10-Apr-2013) the following traffic highlights in Mar-2013:

• Passenger numbers: 8.2 million, -1.2% year-on-year;
  • Lufthansa Passenger Airlines*: 5.9 million, -1.3%;
  • SWISS**: 1.4 million, -1.3%;
  • Austrian Airlines: 887,000, -1.0%;
• Passenger load factor: 79.5%, +2.8 ppts;
  • Lufthansa Passenger Airlines: 78.7%, +2.5 ppts;
  • SWISS: 83.8%, +3.2 ppts;

Lufthansa Group: "The Passenger Airline Group reduced its capacities in March by 0.6% compared with last year. At the same time, sales increased by 3.0%, so the passenger load factor again improved sharply by 2.8 ppts to 79.5%. The yield in March was down on last year due to the structural shift towards more economy class capacities on long-haul routes and weaker performance in Asia/Pacific."
