LATAM Airlines Group previously said it would install WiFi on more than 60 long haul aircraft between 2026 and 2028, after operating its first 787-9 long haul flight with onboard WiFi.1 LATAM Airlines Group also awarded Viasat a USD60 million contract to install WiFi technology on widebodies used on long haul services, with installation due to commence in 2026.2 SES’ multi-orbit inflight connectivity platform had already been operating on nearly 600 aircraft in 1Q2026, with additional commitments including Japan Airlines’ long haul fleet and a Boeing linefit agreement.3 4
