Korean Air Cargo focusing on SE Asia and South America during global economic slowdown
Korean Air stated (05-Sep-2019) it "remains focused on increasing the competitiveness of its cargo routes in Southeast Asia and South America amid the current global economic slowdown". The carrier reported "a continuous rise" in air cargo demand as companies shift their production bases to Southeast Asia. The carrier confirmed the following operational changes:
- Relaunched twice weekly Manila service with Boeing 777F in May-2019;
- Commenced Seoul Incheon-Xian-Hanoi freighter service in May-2019;
- Increased Seoul Incheon-Hanoi-Delhi-Vienna-Milan-Seoul Incheon freighter frequency from three to four times weekly in May-2019;
- Relaunched twice weekly service to Bangkok with 777F on 13-Aug-2019;
- Increased Seoul Incheon-Anchorage-Miami-Sao Paulo-Santiago-Lima-Los Angeles-Seoul Incheon frequency from twice to three times weekly, operating with 777F, from 23-Aug-2019.
Korean Air will focus on exploring international cargo markets by actively using fifth freedom rights.
