Background ✨
IATA Economics said CORSIA-eligible emissions unit supply grew but remained far short of the more than 200 million EEUs airlines were expected to need to purchase and cancel by 31-Jan-2028, leaving an estimated gap of around 150 million EEUs over 15 months.1 IATA also urged governments to strengthen CORSIA and warned an EU ETS aviation scope expansion would undermine the global scheme and raise compliance costs by 40% to EUR280 billion over 2027-2040.2 3
