IAG partners with Inmarsat to offer inflight WiFi on short haul services

International Airlines Group (IAG) announced (02-Nov-2016) an agreement with Inmarsat to provide inflight WiFi on short haul services. Up to 341 short haul aircraft will be fitted with Inmarsat's 4G broadband network, including 132 British Airways aircraft, 125 Vueling aircraft, 45 Iberia aircraft, and 39 Aer Lingus aircraft. The introduction of the 4G network will see IAG become the first airline group to offer WiFi on short haul aircraft. The first British Airways' A321 aircraft will be in service from summer 2017, while Aer Lingus, Iberia, and Vueling will be in service later in 2017. 90% of IAG's fleets will be fitted with broadband connectivity by 2019.
