Inmarsat was a British-based firm providing global mobile satellite communications technology. Inmarsat provided voice and high-speed data services to almost anywhere in the world through the use of satellite technology. The company worked across various transportation sectors, including land, maritime and aviation.

Within the aviation industry, Inmarsat was among the most widely used satellite operators in the industry. Inmarsat technology enabled a diverse range of applications for both the cockpit and the cabin - from safety communications, weather and flight plan updates, to email, internet and phone services.

Viasat completed the acquisition of Inmarsat 31-May-2023.
