HK Express GM finance & legal outlines network strategy

HK Express GM finance & legal Simon Gu, speaking at the CAPA - Airline Fleet & Finance Summit 2014, stated (26-Mar-2014) the carrier's network strategy is centred on separate but complementary network to sister airline Hong Kong Airlines, targeting popular destinations for Hong Kong people. Mr Gu said the carrier aims to operate to leisure or secondary cities to match with Hong Kong Airlines' destinations such as Beijing and Shanghai. HK Express' network is based on "three legs" of Northeast Asia including Japan, South Korea; Southeast Asia such as Chiang Mai, Phuket, Kota Kinabalu; and some secondary cities in mainland China that Hong Kong Airlines cannot profitably serve. By doing so, Mr Gu said the carrier avoids dependence on one market, limit seasonality effects and build network synergies with HNA Group airlines.
