GCAA accuses Lufthansa, British Airways and Air France of hindering UAE carriers
UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority has reportedly accused Lufthansa, British Airways and Air France of hindering UAE carriers (Emirates 24/7, 27-Mar-2011). Director General of the organisation, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, reportedly stated the three companies are using dishonest methods of competition to strike alliances with other global carriers and close airspace to UAE companies, to reduce competitiveness. Mr Al Suwaidi reportedly stated Canada's carriers are also allied with the European airlines and their plans.
