Full-body scanner at airports given second look in UAE

UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority director general Saif Al Suwaidi said the regulator is still considering full-body scanners at UAE airports (Gulf News, 21-Apr-2011). A committee has been set up to study the technical, social and religious aspects of such a move, Al Suwaidi said, adding the GCAA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dubai Police. Using full-body scanners was ruled out by the Dubai Airport Authority in Jul-2010 on grounds it was considered a violation of privacy.
