Five Indonesian airlines vie for additional seats to Australia

Batavia Airlines, Sriwijaya Air, Mandala Airlines, Lion Air and Indonesia AirAsia are each seeking a share of an additional 4,000 weekly seats on offer between Indonesia and Australia, following the signing of a new bilateral air services agreement (KOMPAS.com, 21-Jul-2010). Only Indonesia AirAsia currently operates to Australia. Batavia Air Commercial Director, Hasudungan Pandiangan, claims the carrier has already received in-principle agreement to operate to Australia.
