Etihad Aviation Group outlines report on its contribution to the US economy

Etihad Aviation Group stated (25-Jul-2016) the group and its equity partners will support 108,000 jobs in the US and contribute USD10.7 billion to the US economy in 2016, according to a report by Oxford Economics. The group said it will make a core economic contribution of USD3.8 billion to US GDP, consisting of its global operations and capital spending with US-based suppliers, and supporting 30,300 jobs. The group said the employment translates to domestic spending, which delivers USD2.9 billion to GDP. Spending by the 280,000 international visitors carried to the US by Etihad Airways is estimated to contribute USD1.9 billion to GDP and support 22,400 jobs. Operations by the group's equity partner airlines are expected to contribute USD1.6 billion to GDP with a further USD3.4 billion tourism contribution, supporting 13,700 jobs through core operations and 41,100 jobs through the tourism industry. The group said it will also boost US productivity by USD1.1 billion by facilitating business interaction, foreign investment, tourism and trade. Etihad Airways will operate more than 4700 services to and from the US in 2016, carrying 1.2 million passengers.
