Emirates orders two more A380s
Emirates ordered (13-Apr-2016) two additional A380s for delivery in 4Q2017. The aircraft will be configured with two classes and will be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines. The airline will receive 33 A380s and 24 Boeing 777s and retire 30 older aircraft by the end of 2017. The carrier operates 75 A380s and has 65 on firm order. Emirates president Sir Tim Clark reported growing customer demand for A380 services. Sir Tim said, "We've always been open about how the A380 has been a big success for Emirates. It's a boon for our operations to slot constrained airports and we get a lot of positive feedback from our customers." The two new A380s were originally allocated to Skymark Airlines.
