Dubai International Airport pax up 3% to 6.4m in Oct-2016, cargo up 10%

Dubai International Airport passenger numbers up 3% - traffic highlights for Oct-2016:

  • Passenger numbers: 6.4 million, +2.7% year-on-year;
  • Cargo volume: 236,169 tonnes, +9.5%;
  • Aircraft movements: 35,294, +1.1%.

Dubai International Airport reported (24-Nov-2016) Eastern Europe as the fastest-growing marking in Oct-2016 (+25.2%), followed by South America (+9.9%), Asia (+8.2%) and Indian Subcontinent (+6.75). India remained the top destination country (901,958 passengers), followed by the UK (493,181 passengers) and Saudi Arabia (349,198 passengers). Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths said: "Cargo numbers impressed during October with the biggest monthly increase we've seen all year. On the passenger side, we remain on track to achieve our forecast for 83 million passengers by year-end. Accordingly, DXB is sure to retain its status as the leading airport worldwide for international passenger traffic." [more - original PR]
