Mergers: Commission approves acquisition of Gatwick Airport by Global Infrastructure Partners

26-Nov-2009 The European Commission has cleared under the EU Merger Regulation the proposed acquisition by Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP- of the US of Gatwick Airport Limited (GAL from its current owner, BAA of the UK. Gatwick is the UK's second largest airport. After examining the operation, the Commission concluded that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it.
