Denver International Airport reports record revenue in 2013
US' Denver International Airport reported (19-Jun-2014) a 5.9% year-on-year increase in operating revenue to USD661.6 million in 2013, despite recording a 1.1% decline in passenger numbers. The airport attributes the revenue growth to a 10% increase in non-airline revenue, including parking, concession and car rental and other revenue, to USD281.7 million, the result of a 3.9% origination and destination passenger traffic growth. Commenting on the result, CFO Patrick Heck said: "For the third consecutive year, Denver International Airport was able to deposit more than USD80 million in our capital account after giving USD40 million back to the airlines that serve Denver. This keeps us in a healthy financial position and gives us flexibility. As we improve our financial performance and grow nonairline revenues, we have more opportunities to reduce costs to the airlines so they are more able to expand their service from Denver."
