Benefit seen in Australia and New Zealand joining ASEAN single aviation market

National University of Singapore Prof of Aviation Law Alan Khee-Jin Tan, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, stated (07-Aug-2013) "the more the merrier" referring to the possibility of Australia and New Zealand joining the ASEAN single aviation market, but should also be aware that this would make the two countries geographically disadvantaged, as they would be the most southerly nations in the agreement. There is "no directionality of control" in the ASEAN agreement, according to Prof Tan, which could open up previously unoperated links between ASEAN capitals and indirect market access.
