Background ✨
Ascend Airways said it surrendered its UK AOC and returned six Boeing 737 MAX 8s to lessors, citing higher UK cost pressures, limited wet-lease reciprocity versus EU AOCs, fuel-price impacts from the Middle East conflict, and early-production engine reliability issues; it also said Apr-2026 payroll was met and the wind-down was managed with Price Bailey Chartered Accountants advising.1 Ascend Airways Malaysia previously advanced its AOC process, received CAAM approvals and began preparations for ACMI/charter operations, including a Philippines foreign AOC and induction of 737-800SF/737-800NG aircraft.2 3 4
