Allegiant announces purchase of 12 new A320ceo aircraft

Allegiant Air announced (29-Jul-2016) plans to purchase 12 new A320ceo aircraft from Airbus, marking its "first-time new aircraft purchase" as it implements its transition to an all Airbus fleet by 2019. Allegiant has selected the CFM engine type for the aircraft, with the engine order is valued at USD270 million US at list price, including spare engines. The aircraft are expected to enter service between 2017 and 2018, bringing Allegiant's Airbus fleet to 77 aircraft either in service or committed for future delivery. Allegiant will have a total of 85 aircraft in revenue service, with its 33 in-service Airbus aircraft consisting of 16 A320s and 17 A319s. The carrier's COO Jude Bricker stated: "This purchase agreement is an important step in transitioning to a single fleet type. Streamlining our fleet will increase efficiencies across our entire operation and bring economic advantages in fuel savings and a higher number of seats -- allowing us to continue offering the industry's most affordable fares, while increasing reliability."
