Alitalia cancels services due to strike by pilots, flight attendants and baggage handlers

Alitalia stated services across the country were cancelled or delayed on 22-Mar-2010, due to a four-hour strike by pilots, flight attendants and baggage handlers (Associated Press, 22-Mar-2010). The strikes also affected Meridiana Fly operations. Unions for pilots and flight attendants stated they are striking to protest Alitalia's restructuring plans, while baggage handlers have expressed concern about the failure to negotiate a new contract after two years.
