Airports Company South Africa makes airlines responsible for baggage

Airports Company South Africa (Asca) announced in a Parliamentary Committee meeting that airlines, including South African Airways, Mango, One Time, Kulula, British Airways and others, will bear full responsibility for lost, stolen or pilfered baggage during the World Cup in Jun/Jul-2010 (IOL, 20-May-2010).

Airports Company South Africa: "The airlines will have to look at their baggage-handling crews. I say this because during the final draw in Cape Town, one of the FIFA delegate's bags was left at OR Tambo Airport. We expect every airline to instantaneously know where their passengers' bags are at any time," Bongani Maseko, Operational Manager. Source: IOL, 02-May-2010.
