AirAsia X customising product on seperate markets, avoid 'copy and paste' of short-haul product

AirAsia X head of commercial Arik De, speaking at the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit, said (04-Aug-2016) the carrier is able to develop long-haul markets by recognising customer needs on separate markets. Mr De noted: "If you go on our flight to Tehran where everyone is used to a full service carrier, 85% of our products are sold as bags and food and our food is customised to Iranian tastes," adding: "We listen to what our consumers want, learn from them, then deliver a product…Airlines have struggled in the past because they think a copy and paste [of short-haul low-cost products] will work in long-haul."
