Air New Zealand Sep-2009 pax down 1.2%, year-to-date yield down 10.3%

Air New Zealand passenger numbers down 1.2% - traffic highlights in Sep-2009:

  • Passenger numbers: 1.2 million, -1.2% year-on-year;
    • Short-haul: 1.0 million, +0.5%;
      • Domestic: 764,000, +1.5%;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 262,000, -2.2%;
    • Long-haul: 158,000, -10.7%;
  • Passenger load factor: 82.3%, +4.5 ppts;
    • Short-haul: 79.0%, +7.2 ppts;
      • Domestic: 76.8%, +4.5 ppts;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 80.2%, +8.6 ppts;
    • Long-haul: 84.7%, +2.7 ppts;
      • Asia/Japan/UK: 81.9%, +2.3 ppts;
      • North America/UK: 86.7%, +2.8 ppts;

Three months ended 30-Sep-2009:

  • Yield: -10.3%;
    • Short-haul: -11.6%;
    • Long-haul: -12.3%;
  • Yield ex-foreign exchange: -13.2%. [more]

Air New Zealand: “Group-wide yields for the financial year to date were down 10.3% on the same period last year.
